Vegan Barcelona: 5 Restaurants our Member Michael Keeps Going Back To
Barcelona has become one of the most vegan friendly cities in Spain, and the choice of fully plant based restaurants keeps growing. When conversation at the Circles House dinner table turns to where to eat, Michael is the person to ask. As a vegan who loves good food, he has built a short list of places worth the trip down the hill from Vallvidrera.
Below, he shares his five favourite vegan restaurants in Barcelona: three regulars he returns to again and again, plus two reliable picks for a lighter lunch or a generous set menu. For each one, we’ve added a little background and the address, followed by Michael’s take in his own words.

Michael’s regulars
1. 26KG
Carrer de Sancho de Àvila, 175, Poblenou
26KG is a fully vegan Italian restaurant run by Italians who live in Poblenou themselves. The name refers to the amount of pasta an average Italian eats in a year, and the kitchen honours it with fresh pasta made in house. Since opening in 2024, the team has focused on veganising classic Italian recipes with simple, quality ingredients. You can also pick up pasta kits to cook the same dishes at home.
Michael’s take: My favourite fully vegan Italian restaurant, and I absolutely love going there. Poblenou is a great area, too. The pasta has that perfect al dente texture. If you know, you know. Their tiramisu is delicious as well. I love Italian food, and this is simply a really good Italian restaurant, so it’s definitely one of my

2. Mad Mad Vegan
Carrer d’Aribau, 65, Eixample
Mad Mad Vegan began in 2019 as a small stall in Madrid’s San Ildefonso market and grew into one of the capital’s best loved vegan burger spots before opening in Barcelona in spring 2024. The Eixample restaurant pairs modern, industrial design with classic details inspired by Prohibition era America. The menu centres on generous comfort food, from burgers and loaded fries to sandwiches and sharing plates. It sits a short walk from the FGC Provença station, on the same train line that runs down from Vallvidrera, which makes it an easy evening out from the house.
Michael’s take: This place has a really high rating, and I can see why. They make great burgers, and what I really love is how they bring tapas culture to vegan food. You can try vegan versions of all kinds of classics, like croquettes and calamari. As a vegan, this is the only place where I’ve tried some of these dishes, and I love it. Everything tastes great, and the desserts are absolutely top tier. It’s a really cool spot.

3. Desoriente
Carrer de Ramon Turró, 209, Poblenou, and on Enric Granados in Eixample
Desoriente brings together flavours from across Asia, with Japanese, Thai and Korean influences and a Mediterranean twist. The original Poblenou restaurant sits on a quiet street just off the Rambla del Poblenou, with a terrace for warmer evenings and an interior full of neon lighting and Japanese references. It shares its owners with 26KG, so a pasta night and a sushi night make a natural pair. Regulars love the creative sushi rolls, and the Snickers inspired dessert has a loyal following of its own.
Michael’s take: A fantastic Asian restaurant with really interesting and delicious food and drinks. The menu covers sushi, ramen, Thai dishes and more. It’s a more upscale dining experience, with beautiful presentation and amazing flavours. Just a really cool place to go.
Those are the three places Michael always loves going back to. The next two cover the days when he wants something lighter or something more generous.
Two more worth knowing
4. Mundo Vegan
Carrer de Muntaner, 106, Eixample
Mundo Vegan is a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant in the Eixample built around a simple mission: making cruelty free food easy and delicious. The menu covers colourful bowls, salads, burgers and pizza, which makes it a dependable choice for a healthy lunch in the centre of town or a casual dinner with friends who eat everything.
Michael’s take: If you’re looking for something a bit healthier, Mundo Vegan is a good option. The interior keeps things simple, and sitting outside is the nicest way to enjoy it. They have lots of different bowls and salads, and they make great shakes too. Overall, it’s a good place for a healthy vegan meal.

5. Vegan Mount
Carrer de València, 506, a few blocks from Sagrada Família
Vegan Mount opened in 2021 and specialises in Indian and Nepalese cooking, with burgers, sandwiches and poke bowls on the menu too. The thali style sets are the main draw, bringing several dishes to the table at once, and reviewers consistently praise the generous portions and fair prices. It pairs perfectly with a visit to the Sagrada Família.
Michael’s take: This one serves Indian style food, with dishes like pakoras and rice. I usually go for one of their meal sets, which come with plenty of food and even a little dessert. It’s a simple, easygoing kind of place, the food is good, and you get a lot for your money.
A list for every craving
From fresh pasta in Poblenou to vegan tapas in the Eixample, upscale Asian plates, colourful bowls and generous Indian sets, Michael’s list covers every craving a vegan could have in Barcelona. Opening hours shift through the year, so check each restaurant’s page before you head out. Save this list for your next evening in the city, and bring your own favourite spot to the next community dinner at the house. We are always happy to add to the list.
